Title / Name: MASTERWORK STUDY/Recreation: FRIGHTFUL NEW YORK - 1
Medium: Physical art with Pencil, Marker, Color Pencil, Charcoal, Pastel Stick
Date Made: November/25/2024
Brief Description: Masterwork recreation study of the painting "FRIGHTFUL NEW YORK" by the artist Hisako Hibi -- This piece can be found in the national portrait art gallery - It was very interesting recreating this art piece, I feel that it lends to better understanding the feelings that the original artist felt when creating the piece, in this case being frightened as this piece was made after the artist, recently freed from the Japanese American Internment Camps, moved to the eastern coast of the united states to start life over. Also, it is interesting to experiment with a more Painterly style, using tools to replicate the oil paint and associated style that is seen within this scene. This isn't a perfect replica, but it's interesting in a way, at least to me, seeing how different aspects of a piece come together in order to make the original art piece.
